Hello All,
Being a lady who loves her Historical Clothing, I get asked what do I enjoy for the modern comforts. So this blog is born.
November 2011
Chalk Pencil- I love using my chalk pen to mark on my fabrics, it makes for an easy cut, and I always feel better when I have chalked out the pattern and then I can re-check and know it is the right size and space. Especially when I am adapting a bodice.
There are two on the market-
Dritz Tailor's Marking Set~ This is a thin pencil with three colors, it is a good pencil but it is limited with only three colors and it is very thin and breaks easily. It does go well with silk dupioni, and I have used it for wools however the lead broke a lot.
The other Chalk Pen on the market is also from Dritz, you find it in the "Quilting Asile" and is red and comes with eight colors of chalk and 8 white pieces of chalk and a pencil sharpener. I really enjoy using this chalk pencil, it can be used for dark and light fabrics, and it does wash out of the fabric, and also you can brush it off. I am often asked where I picked this set up at, and I tell people to wait for the 50% off sale to pick these gems up.
These pens have saved my life, from hemming to placing embroidery, they have worked without fail.
